I've spent many years in this area of Toronto. This documentary and footage is emotionally moving.

The best school in my younger days 1969(ish) when the school was newly built . Back when teachers were great teachers, school staff was excellent and us kids actually got an education. There were no bullies, kids respected each other other than some mild fun teasing. Mrs Nichols was my home room teacher, probably my most favorite teacher of all time. I really luved this school and never forgot it. I even tried to visit it for a short tour in the mid 90's but got turned away as a possible danger to the school and kids, and rightly so, as sadly there was a rash of questionable characters trying to get into some Ottawa schools for some nefarious reasons. I remember being totally insulted by the turn away, but knowingly realized the procedure was in fact the proper course of action. One day i hope to tour the school again before i croak, as there is a sentimental bond. I certainly can't say that about most of my education throughout the following years,lol. Glen Ogilvie Public School was uniquely built, and i remember clearly some of the flooding in the lower sections of the school when it rained hard. They did do repairs and i don't seem to remember any further issues after that. I went on to Gloucester high school for grade 9, another great school, but lost was the innocence and happiness of Glen Ogilvie.

Very interesting footage, these clips are fascinating to watch (CFPL being by local station). Can you confirm if this footage was taken in 1959? The flag shown flying from the ship (1:20-1:22) looks like the flag of Ontario that was only adopted in 1965.

What an uplifting theme song for a once great Province. So what's Ontario's theme now? "Highway to Hell?" "Pigs (three different ones)?" Or "Welcome To The Jungle?"

Ontario was better designing dirt roads. Certainly do not know how to build roads for drivers! Stop and go is all Ontario drivers are capable of doing. I loath driving in Ontario!

Back in 1989, not too long after I got my license, I went into a skid at about 70 km/h on a wet gravel road, and the car turned backwards and flipped onto its roof in the ditch. I was wearing my seatbelt and all the only "injury" I suffered was a nick on my right palm crawling out over the broken glass. I still shudder to think what might have happened to me if I hadn't been wearing my seatbelt.

I remember, in mid 80's driving with my parents from Canada's wonderland on HWY 7...and slept in a brand new Holiday Inn, and Markville shopping Center was brand new.

I was born in Aug ‘53 so I don’t remember Hazel. But then I was living in Toronto so it may not have been affected. Since 1980 I have lived in Florida so have seen too many hurricanes, including Katrina, which blew my roof off.
